i believe the most common lung infection is pneumonia caused by strep pnumoniae. it's usually not fatal and cured with antibiotics, unless, one is ummunocompromised such as those with aids, old age, has a disease etc.. it typically occurs as a secondary opportunistic infection. this type of bacteria is aka "old man's friend" because it's one of the leading cause of death within the elderly population.. hope this helps.
