Shaking while on citalopram?

Question:
My doctor put my on citalopram (celexa) the other day for depression. right after I take it I'm always really jittery and shaking for a couple of hours. Is this normal or should I talk to my doctor about it.

Answers:
The most common side effects of citalopram are nausea, diarrhoea, tiredness, dry mouth and sometimes impotence. unusual side effects include sweating, loss of appetite, tremors, agitation, watery nose, low libido and excessive but rare(stop taking and consult doctor) are excessive bruising, bleeding or nose bleeds. So in answer to you question it can be fairly common, but if it is really bothering you go back and the doctor may change you medication to something else.

It is just trial and error, sometimes it may take a while to find one that suits you with minimal unwanted side effects

Good luck and I hope this helps
