Is Cipro a good Antibiotic? What experience have you made with it? I heard it's supposed to be good, true?
Question:
I heard it doesn't have many side effects in people and is given to children as well, because it's easy to handle for the body.
Answers:
Ciprofloxacin was a good broad spectrum antibiotics. But now, 80% people aroung the world resistant to Cipro.
It does have many dangerous side effect. And doctor never give Cipro to under 12 y.o teenager, not orally, and never without control / supervision.
You said you take 500 mg a day, is it divided or single dose ? Because it sould be taken twice to 4 times a day, with minimal dose : 200 mg per taken.
It's a very specific antibiotic, and very effective. There is less resistance to Cipro than penicillin due to the way it acts on bacteria. But, as with any antibiotic, take all of it even after you feel better.. As my mom always used to say, it's the last pill that makes you better.
I have had rapid results with it. Do eat yogurt though, to protect your digestive system and uh...other places women need protection. Antibiotics are not very picky, so they kill the good bacteria along with the bad. If you eat 8 oz of active culture yogurt each day you will re-introduce the good bacteria. If you can't stand yogurt, get a probiotic at any store that sells vitamins.

I have taken it quite a bit. I go to Haiti on mission trips and we usually get a gastrointestinal bug. Taking cipro knocks it down right away. I have never had any side effects taking it.
Cipro is a broad spectrum antibiotic that is usually used when a person has an unknown or unusually virulent bacterial infection. It's true that it does not have many side effect in most people but there are some and if they do occur you should be sure to notify your physician ASAP. If they are severe, such as difficulty breathing, call 911. As other responders have mentioned this antibiotic cannot always tell what it should and since you take it in orally it will unfortunately start to kill off the normal flora or bacteria in the intestines that you need to digest your food. You can compensate by either taking acidophilis or eating yogurt about two hours after your antibiotic. This will also help to prevent you from developing a vaginal yeast infection. Trust me on this, you really don't want to get one. For more information on this medication I suggest you try webmd.com. They are quite a remarkable resource. Best of luck.
you might get a fever after taking it but that'll go away in about 24-48 hours
