Does anyone have tips on how to reduce blood pressure without taking pills?

Question:
Are there ant foods to eat or avoid?
Are there any exercises?
Are there any methods that have helped you or anyone you know?

Answers:
Loose weight. Eat a healthy diet that is well balanced. Eat about the same amount of calories at each meal. Do not skip breakfast. Emphasize fruit, vegetables and fish. Meat no more than twice a day. Stay away from soda and sweets.

You need to exercise. Try swimming or walking. Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day for 4 or 5 days a week. Walking is a great exercise. It is probably better than running.

Get a blood pressure machine, Take it before you exercise and about 20-30 minutes afterward. You should see lower blood pressure.

You are correct in wanting to control your blood pressure without medication. It is much better that way. You do not have the expense, inconvenience and most importantly the side effects of medication.

If you blood pressure is not normal after you have tried to lower it or you cannot keep up the eating well and exercise regimen then do take the medications. Hopefully, you will succeed. If not extend both the quality and length your life through medication.

Good luck!
Common sense.
Hello chick, here are a few tips

Watch your salt intake - try to lower it if possible
Limit fat intake
If you smoke try and stop

Good luck.
My doc told me to take a little time out for me.. Bath with scented candles and such, pomegranate juice as well. But stay in touch with your doc coz they will need to keep a eye on it. You may need that extra help with pills
I watched how to live longer yesterday and this woman's blood pressure was high in 6 weeks she reduced it right down by eating healthy and exercise, she was an older woman and didn't like exercise so all she did was walk her dog and did yoga and this helped. You have to cut out fatty and high in saturate foods eat more veg and fruit and it worked for her!
this is all that i know about it. yoga 4 exercise more fruit and veg, and most of all relax have some me time 2 do what u like. hope it works
The best way to reduce blood pressure is to avoid eating lits of fatty snacks, such a chips, crisps, sweets. Anything high in saturated fat should avoided or only ate now and again.

Anythign with more than 3g of saturated fat per 100g is high.
Also regulary exercise helps reduce blood pressure, there are no set exercises to do, but cardio exercise will help more, such as running, wlaking, swimming, riding a bike, anything that gets your heart beating faster is better. You should aim to do at least 10-30 minutes of cardio exercise a day.

Also drinking plenty of sugar free fluids will help flush your system out. You also need to watch your salt intake, dont have anymore than 6g a day, Don't add salt to cooking or food, use herbs and spices to flavour your food rather than salt and watch out for ready meals, they are usually high in salt.
Ironically Pickle juice has been found to relieve the symptoms of high blood pressure.
Avoid eating too much salt. My brother had high blood pressure and he stopped eating it all together and it made a big differnce.
Good Luck
It depends on the cause. If it is caused by being overweight, smoking, drinking too much, eating too much salt or any of the other well known causes then do the obvious. If it is congenital then medication is the best option. I exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, don't smoke and still have high blood pressure so pills are the only things that works.
Depends on how high your BP is and if you have any other under-lying medical conditions. High and very low BP always has risk attached to it. In this case think of herbal if you don't want to take pills however would advise that if you want herbal then you need to go to someone who knows what they are doing.
Watch your sodium intake and do power walks. a little weight lifting is good as well
normal blood pressure is 120/80, if you would've put your BP, it would've helped greatly.

exercises: just getting out and about and walking in general is good exercise.

Limit alcohol to no more than two drinks per day for men and no more than one drink per day for women****

**The guidelines recommend people with high blood pressure follow the DASH diet -- Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. This eating plan is based on a daily intake of 2,000 calories:

7-8 servings per day of grains and grain products (these can include breakfast cereal, whole grain bread, rice, pasta, etc.)
4-5 servings of vegetables
4-5 servings of fruit
2-3 servings of low-fat or nonfat dairy foods
No more than two servings per day of meat, poultry, and fish
4-5 servings of nuts, seeds, and legumes per week
2-3 servings of fats and oils (serving example: 1 teaspoon of margarine or oil, 1 tablespoon of salad dressing or mayonnaise)
5 servings of sweets per week (only low-fat treats like sugar, jelly, or sorbet)
***Even losing as little as 10 pounds if you're overweight can help reduce or prevent high blood pressure.

****A drink is defined as 12 oz. of beer, 5 oz. of wine, or 1.5 oz of 80-proof liquor.

foods to avoid: high sodium foods such as soups, lunch meats, prepackaged foods
Take stock of the sources of salt in your diet, such as restaurant meals, salt-based condiments, and convenience foods. Some of these are really loaded with salt.

Read the labels when shopping. Look for lower sodium in cereals, crackers, pasta sauces, canned vegetables, or any foods with low-salt options.

If you think your meals are high in sodium, balance them by adding high-potassium foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables.

Ask about salt added to food, especially at restaurants. Most restaurant chefs will omit salt when requested.

If you need to salt while cooking, add the salt at the end; you will need to add much less. The longer the food cooks, the more the salty flavor is muted and at the end, the final taste is on the top layer.

stress reducers such as meditation, just relaxing and not worrying in general
Relaxation helps.During my training as a paramedic we were taken round some hospitals. In one there was a patient sat in a darkened room looking at a vertical row of lights he was linked to monitors and bp machines.
He was merely asked to reduce the number of lights lit just by thinking calm thoughts to cut it short he did it(Power of the mind)Good Luck,PAX.
anyone who has hypertension should also avoid definitly any lamb in their diet menu as it can cause the bloodpressure high at once

drink star fruit, cucumber or celery juice it's working too. (that's what sister inlaw does whenever her bloodpressure high).
Reduce salt in your diet. Reduce fats in your diet. (Especially saturated fats) Reduce your weight if you are over weight. Take some regular aerobic exercise (gently at first). Try to do some relaxation or meditation if you are stressed.
Three things help keep blood pressure down.
1) Be no more than your ideal weight
2) Take regular vigorous CV exercise
3) Keep your salt intake low.

Although all of these help, it is very unlikely that even if they are all followed a person with established blood pressure problems will be able to avoid treatment.
my husband has high blood pressure and he takes a teaspoon of apple cider vinager twice a day.It works
your doc knows the best,
blood pressure is a good companion which will be with a person till the end ,you can only keep it at the minimum, a condition where the damage has already occured
when were you diagnosed, if its a first detection, you doctor would sort out why you got high blood prussure.
the word BLOOD PRUSSURE high or low are only two words to spell but the causes are many.
so, let you bring down your high blood pressure first. then ask for the root cause and then try to ask questions that would help our IMs too to suggest you some choices of better life.

during my community service, i had this encounter to a patient. she had a very high Blood pressure and their place is very far from a hospital. so we tell her to eat 3 tooth of garlic and calamansi juice. our patient blood pressure decreases. if you do it everyday maybe your Blood pressure will be lowered.
Reduce your salt intake to about 1500 mg per day. Your blood pressure should fall in about three days.
i just cut out those things that stressed me, i changed my job ( went self employed) i dont work for people who start to annoys me, walk away from anybody who irritates you,
if anything or anyone starst to get on your nerves.just walk away & find those that dont, you only get 1 chance at this life so make it as nice as possible
