I think I have chronic fatigue syndrome but I don't believe in it?
Question:
Doctors are pushing antidepressants, but I don't know. I'm pretty easy going I don't think I'm depressed.
Answers:
If you are sleeping 8 hours a night, your blood tests are clear and you're still tired, maybe you need a sleep study. Just because you think you're sleeping for 8 hours, doesn't mean that you are actually in a sleeping state in your brain for long enough. That sounds odd, I know, but you can be in non-REM sleep and be getting very little REM sleep because of a sleep disturbance. It could be detected with a sleep study and a treatment like wearing a CPAP mask when trying to sleep might help you feel better. Sleep problems look like all kinds of crazy things, from chronic fatigue to heart attacks.
A sleep study is where you go into a sleep lab around your normal bed time. The tech wires you with all kinds of sensors to detect muscle movement, breathing, brain activity, and snoring, then you go to sleep. They send the results to a doctor specializing in sleep medicine for interpretation of the results, then figure out what to do about it.
Chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromalgia are real conditions that affect many people and are very debilitating. The fact that some MD's don't believe in them doesn't change anything - just as many do!
The thing about them is you can't treat them with drugs (and guess who makes money off of drugs?) Go natural, exercise, eat right, control stress, stop smoking and get massage and chiropractic.
