COPD is an irreversible but delayable disease. Quitting is the ONLY proven way to delay the progression of COPD. I have seen patients with COPD and they suffer a lot not only pain/difficulty but also financially. I'm really sorry but you can tell him that he must love you guys to stay around, that you guys will have a hard time if he dies or gets progressively worse. Good Luck.
you're gonna have to do it the tough way take his car keys, his money, all his cigarettes, and lighters or anything else he could use to access cigarettes and take away alcohal he might run to that no matter what he does (punish you, take ur allowance or anything it will all pay off)
No. I'm sorry. There is no way to make him 'get it.' But if he complains later of how he's in pain, he's a hypocrite.
Your Dad already understands exactly what is going to happen to him and nothing you or anyone else says is going to reach him. Have you tried to reach other members of your family who smoke? If they smoke around your Dad they make it harder for him to quit and you should make that clear to them. They're supporting each other in this habit/addiction. Apparently, the rest of the family doesn't care how much sickness and suffering he will have to endure. Protect yourself and stay out of the smoke so you won't have Emphysema, COPD, Asthma, and Chronic Bronchitis that's caused by second-hand smoke. At this point, I think that's about the most you can do. I wish you the best.
Take him to a hospital then he can see the cancer patients by himself.
I know is hard but he did a decision.
You have to be safe of the smoke, honey.
Good luck.
