Really sleeping pills is all a doctor can do, and they work Ive used them (Tylonol is the best cause its the weakest and least addictive). But I hate using sleeping pills because they are addictive meaning you wont be able to sleep without them. Working out is something that worked for me, if I work out hard for an hour or more I am usually able to sleep easier.
1. Go to sleep at the same time every night. This keeps your body on a steady cycle. The body will know exactly when to fall asleep and when to get up.
2. Do not drink coffee or caffeine up to six hours before bedtime.
3. Avoid naps during the day. Your body only needs eight hours of sleep (nine hours by revised standards). Naps will decrease your ability to fall asleep.
4. Work out. Constant exercise will make your body tired. One hour a day will be enough to make your body crave sleep.
5. Drink warm milk before you go to sleep. This is an old American tradition, which works for some people.
Try investing in a meditation/hypnosis CD, it's amazing how it works. I went to a hypnosis show all skeptic, but came out a believer! Also you could try a running water relaxation device which will help you relax. Do not exercise prior to sleep with the idea it will tire you out, it will actually make you more alert! Or else try drinking a glass of warm milk prior to going to bed
I use pm pain pills and that works. But I also noticed if I went to bed the same time every night and up the same time in the morning in a short time I was sleeping better. Your body works out of habit. Also give yourself a good 45min before bed to unwind. And try to ease any stress you are under.
drink 1-2 beers or glass of wine...whichever you prefer.
heavy exercises before trying to sleep!! get very tired and try to read a book, that helps also... just go to bed when you are very tired and don´t force yourself to sleep, that´s a good tip for insomniacs!
I take Tylenol P.M. ...however you must have a routine...go to bed at the same time and place every evening, and also milk helps.
Well there could be some mateses that help you sleep, nature music could calm and relax you there are also bath things that help you get tird. There could be some medication that you dont need a prescription for but if worst comes to the worst doctor is the only way.
Hope this Helps!
Here are my top tips.
1. get up early in the day (not much fun though)
2. get into a going to bed routine every night so your body can get into a rhythm of sleep. e. go to bed at the same time, run yourself a bath at the same time, start winding down at least an hour before bed.
3. Don't do 'non sleep' things in your bed. Like watch TV, reading, exercise etc keep your bed and bedroom just for sleeping
4. Make sure your walls are not painted orange (it's a brain stimulating colour
5. If you have an ipod download some meditation onto it and use that to help you relax
6. don't eat a huge meal before going to bed - or drink tea, coffee, coke, chocolate before bed
7. if you're like me and your brain just won't 'switch off' then you will probably find it helpful to keep a journal and write your thoughts down into a journal at night time. Downloading your brain onto paper means that you can 'let go' and go to sleep.
8. insomnia is often related to depression, so if you talk to a trusted friend, counsellor or find a creative outlet to express yourself and ease any feelings of sadness and you will probably sleep better.
9. Read comic books before you go to sleep and put you in a light-hearted relaxed mood.
10. Relax - your body is designed to sleep eventually. Don't lie there counting how many minutes you have left before you have to get up again. Trust that overall you will get enough sleep to function.
ok i have several ideas although if you truley have insomnia you should seek a medical professionals oppinion... I use unisom sleep aids that way you don't have the pain killer that tylenol pm has in it you just get pure sleep aid... you could also take some kind of tylenol pm or benedryl... hmmm... what else there are soooooo many different kinds of over the counter sleep aids out there just go to walmart and look around.
Listen to classical music, if you can get it online. It makes me sleep even in the concerts!
Excersing will set your sleep cycle. Also eat meals at the same time. It will help your body adjust to a clock
say the Lord's prayer over & over. I usually get through 3 full prayers.
