Pinworms/thread worms - go away, come back, go away? Should I go to the doctors?
Question:
If I have them for like a day or maybe a couple, and then they go away for weeks, even months - sometimes almost a year, do I really have to go to a doctor?
I think it's just from hygiene, I'll try to wash my hands fully after going to the bathroom - usually I just rinse them really quickly with water and a tad bit of soap.
I don't have very good hygiene habits (not raised properly) but I'm trying to get used to washing my hands a lot and take showers atleast once a day.
If they are going to come back regularly, is there any other way to treat them without going to the doctor's or getting a prescription? I'm really embarressed (I know I shouldn't be, but I can't help it.) and I want to know if they're just coming back because of hygiene issues or they just are there and don't come out for a little bit, but come back later.
Answers:
Pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis) are all hygiene once you've gotten them. Do not touch the anus at any time, and even if you don't, wash your hands very well with warm water and soap for at least two minutes after using the restroom. In addition to bettering your hygiene habits, you should also wash your bedding (sheets, blankets, etc) daily, as well as bath towels. You don't need to go to the doctor - the key is to stop reinfecting yourself.
iget them to soo go to the doc he will give u a pill u have to take twice and it will get rid of them
Get on the net and type in the word "pinworm" and there is a site called .Information about pinworm on Yahoo! Health. click on that site and it will tell you everything you would want to know about them. It really is nothing to be embarrassed about. It is very common and easily contracted.
Good Luck.
