What does it mean that I have a green dot on my left upper thigh? It's been there since as long as I can remember. And I also know that my best friend has one... is it something to get checked out or is it normal?

That's a birthmark. Usually this color birth mark is associated with Mongolian ethnicity. My grandfather had one on the back of his hand and my nephew has one on his lower back.

Honestly it is probably just a blood vessel or something very close to the surface of the skin. If it doesn't get bigger and doesn't hurt I wouldn't worry about it.
