Good question my husband also worked AS lagger for years before training to become a safety inspector and many of his friends in and around the ship building/construction and green field oil and gas installations in and around Scotland contracted this awful disease.
I would have yourself checked out as it is possible that you could have the spores from you husbands clothed laying dormant in your lungs. Hopefully not!
My husband has to have his xrays every two years and up until now he has been fortunate not to have the signs of it.
Did you claim compensation from the government if not get along to see a solicitor who will advise you as to the procedure to follow to make a claim.
Also look in the papers as you often find advertisments about Asbestosis claims. especially look in the weekend broadsheets.
Good luck and all the very best to you and I'm so sorry to hear of your husbands death.
Please, don't hesitate to get a chest Xray. See a specialist if you have any symptoms.
It's remotely possible that it could be breathed in by you, without it leading to asbestosis. It depends on the severity of exposure, and your unique body reaction to the exposure.
It could also just be anxiety that is making you think of this; a natural reaction to grief. I am so sorry to hear about your husband.
Please see your GP and discuss this with him.
i wouldnt worry about asbestosis because of the rope , i worked and inhaled lots of asbestos in the motor trade and have not got asbestosis but obviously as your husband died of it no wonder you are concerned
