I have a pituitary tumor and on Bromocriptine?

Question:
I had been trying to get pregnant for almost 2 yrs & I went to the Dr and told her all of my symptoms. like lactating and headaches, blurred vision...(my period hasn't stopped tho) well she ran tests & my prolactin level was high. I went in for an MRI and they found a tumor on my pituitary gland. prescribed me bromocriptine. im suppost to take half of a 2.5 in the evening. My questions are how long will it take me to conceive? and will i have to wait until the tumor is gone for me to ovulate & to get pregnant? Also does any one know what happens to the tumor when it is breaking down does it come out of the sinus since its located around that area or does it go into the blood stream. I know these are difficult questions but it would be greatly appreciated if u could help

Answers:
I was diagnosed with with the same as yourself (a prolactinoma) 21 years ago. I was treated with Bromocriptine which did a great job. I think it killed off some of the growth which then slid and rested on my eye nerve. Due to this they then had to operate in 1991 to remove the waste. I was still left with my pituitary gland. I was checked regularly and as years have passed my pituitary is not producing adequate hormones. I am now on thyriod tablets, HRT to give me some hormones I am lacking and more recently I have been put on steroids.
None of this has affected my life in any way. I work full time
and have an active life. I cannot comment on conceiveing as I had already had my children.
I am sure I recall them telling me that Bromocriptine made you more fertile, but please check this out for yourself.
The only part I can help you with is the tumor part...It usually just shrinks and is consumed by your body system...As simply put as I can...A tumor is just abnormal cell growth so if you stop the growth of new cells the existing ones die off and and go away just like all the other old cells in your body...You won't actually have chunks coming out of your body...Good luck getting pregnant and I would listen strictly to your dr about when to get pregnant after being on these meds.
