Acid reflux help?
Question:
Now, my life is straightening out but my heartburn is becoming worse. Is there any way to cure this other than going to a doctor? I am a college student lacking health insurance.
Thanks
Answers:
Your college should offer student health services, check into this. Here's a few hint to minimize your discomfort.
1) do not eat within four hours of going to bed.
2) cut out high-fat foods, and soda of any kind.
3) don't mix hot foods with iced drinks.
4) start a walking program with the goal of achieving 10,000 steps a day (a pedometer is very helpful in this.)
5) don't take aniacids -most have calcium that makes it come back in a few hours- of the Over The Counter medicines, I prefer Zantac.
These things will make a big inroad to making you feel better. Do see a doctor to eliminate any serious disease.
Prilosec OTC. Sold at Walmart or any drugstore. It treats your heartburn but also heals your esophagus as it works. This is really the best medicine over the counter and I know because I take it everyday for acid reflux and have NO problems since taking it.
Well I did have that problem also, but I went to the doctors. What you can do is change your diet, a lot of times it is caused by eating too many spicy foods, or eating too late. If you get that heartburn/gerd feeling at night/middle of the night then what you want to do is sleep with your head elevated higher than your chest, so that way you don't get that acid coming up your throat. I hope that I helped at least a little.
Its all in the diet. Carbonated drinks , spicy foods, mint , fatty foods are all associated with acid reflux or GERD. Try eating better, the over the counter meds are OK but they just cover up the symptom. Its the diet that is the cause.
Like said earlier Prilosec OTC. It works, it really does.
