A lump, especially to the arm can be all manor of things. As a UK doctor I know the advice that was given by your doctor is correct. If you have undergone diagnostic tests such as an MRI scan then I believe the doctor has been more than thorough. I suggest that your daughter monitors the lump for changes in size, shape and colour, and follow the advice given by your doctor.
Wait for the doctors report, and MRI this will show if there is a problem, its no good second guessing at this stage. It only leads to more anxiety. You can gets lumps and bumps all over our body, and most are nothing to worry about. If it was under her armpit i would say that would be the time to worry.
I shouldn't worry too much; lumps and bobbles are all part of being human!
One of several harmless things that can occur near sites of old injuries (sprains, breaks, that sort of thing) are benign lumps called ganglions, but these generally tend to be nearer joints as they get more wear and tear. It could be a harmless subcutaneous cyst. But I'm not a doctor...
Your daughter is doing the right thing by getting it seen to and at 37, it's unlikely to be much more than a random lump. A biopsy might put her mind at rest if the MRI doesn't show up anything.
Good luck for her!
