Where do I look for health insurance after Heart Surgery? Dropped by current provider..?
Question:
Answers:
Your state should have a program for such things. In california it is called Major Risk Medical Insurance Program. The purpose of this is to cover people that insurance companies consider too high risck to cover.
You cannot be denied coverage based on a pre-existing condition. I do not kow what state you are in, but you should look into this. You do have to provide a letter proving that you have been denied or dropped by your insurance company.
Nice guys! Wish you had divulged who the carrier was.
If I were you I would write the state insurance commissioner regarding the subject.
In the U.S., health insurance is employer based. If you hare hired by an employer that offers health insurance and enroll in it, the carrier will have to accept you. They may demand an exclusion period for heart disease, but they will likely accept you as you are for any event. The AARP (retired persons) usually offers health insurance for self-employed but may be more picky. Consider getting a job with coverage.
