There are a ton of CFers and family members on there. We're all pretty close knit. even though were not "supposed" to come in contact with each other. lol not like most of us listen :)
I am 25 with CF and my brother is 28 with CF. medical advances these days are awesome. The kid will most likely be fine if they can treat him/her from the beginning. The breathing treatments (nebulizers) whatever you wanna call em, and the CPT chest percussion therapy suck. However attitude wise most Cfers are pretty happy go lucky get along with everyone type people. Be sure however to take the kid to a CF clinic. a regular GP even everyday pulmonary guy doesn't cover it. go to CFF.ORG and find your local CF clinic.
When the baby is born make sure that you try to get him diagnoses as soon as possible. Mention to the doctors who test him, so they can know what to look for. Luckily, there's been a lot of progress in the field of research for Cystic Fibrosis. Try looking at the Cystic Fibrosis website for more details on what you might need to know, etc.
