If any of your parents had or died from a stroke, do you have a higher chance of going through the same...?
Question:
Or in other words, are stroke conditions genetical?
Answers:
Well, it's not exactly a genetic disorder but, if there is a strong family history of stoke, you are more susceptible to having a stroke. However, today, the technology exists to help reduce the signs & symptoms of a stroke. In addition, today, we have more information on various health concerns/problems. The signs & symptoms of a stroke are available to us. For example, high blood pressure can lead to a stroke. Most people, today, are more apt to keep up with physicals, etc. If you have high blood pressure, there are many medications available that can lower it. Diet is important, especially, regarding foods that are high in cholesterol, trans fat, etc. We can now have a cholesterol screening test. Should anything be out of whack, there are guidelines to reduce your dietary fats, cholesterol, plus again, there are meds to help lower cholesterol. These things/advances didn't exist years ago. I hope that this has helped.
yea
Heart disease is a genetic issue, and you should make your doctor aware of all history of heart disease in your family and they can determine from there if it's necessary for you to take any preventative steps ( more exercise, possibly a change in diet, etc etc. ) and make sure you undergo any tests necessary.
I don't know about them being "genetical," but there is indeed a higher incidence of stroke in those with a familial history of stroke. That's why they take your family history into account when deciding how to treat such things as high blood pressure.
If you parents have died of strokes, mind your blood pressure and eat properly. It doesn`t have to happen to you.
some times but it is the heart desease that kills people did they have heart trouble before stroke my brother had two heart attacts before the stroke so i guess so.
your lifestyle will be the determing factor
Not necessarily. Commonest reason for strokes is atherosclerosis which basically is a process where there is hardening of the blood vessels that go to the brain. This process may be caused by high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, high blood sugar, etc.
It could run in families, eg. those families that have hereditary high cholesterol, but generally if you pay attention to your diet, eliminate smoking, keep your salt intake down, you should be fine.
Yes, you usually have a predisposition to any diseases that your parents had, it is called genetics. But lately it is found that it is more a matter of diet. You usually eat what your parents ate, and since diet is so critical to our health, chances are you will develop the same diseases they did.
Heart disease and stroke are related and they have genetic components. Your likelihood of having a stroke or heart problems is much higher if family members, especially multiple family members, have experienced them. You should always make sure that your doctors know this part of your family history and you need to keep this in mind when making lifestyle choices (managing your weight, smoking, etc.).
My paternal grandfather was killed by a heart attack and of his 6 kids 3 died from related events - either heart attacks or strokes. My father, whose death was caused by something else, had a mild case of heart disease even though he was the one sibling who was active and careful about his weight and health. One of my uncles died of something else when he was about 60, so I think he just didn't live long enough for the heart disease to kick in. So far I know of one cousin who died as a result of a heart disease.
This is one of those things where having a family history of it is a serious thing. The American Heart Association has several tools to help you reduce your risk.
it depends on what reason they had a stroke, like some people have cloged artieries which is usally from high colestrol.some high colestrols run in families.you mainly need to watch your blood presure, eat right, keep your colestrol in check ...ect ect
and dont worry about it,it prb will never happen
