Right Ventricular Hypertrophy - Infant?

Question:
My two month son was hospitalized for and respitory infection. He had a follow up EKG done which came back as showing Right Ventricular Hypertrophy and is being referred to a cardiologist. As I understand, it is enlargement or thickening of the muscle. He had no report of a heart condition when born. I looked on the internet to research, but could not find much information. Does anyone know if this is something thta could have went undected when born? Also, could this be the cause of his respitory infections or vice versa? If so, what are the causes, symptoms, and treatment?

Answers:
not sure as i dont know so much about cardio but its sounds like it went undetected and was congential but since there is no EKG done unless there is unless a problem it wouldn't have been seen otherwise. Heart and lungs problems go together so if he an elarged heart muscle it can cause respiratory infections since it makes it harder to breathe. Anyway EKG's a lot of time can show false positives so if there is a real reason for concern you son should have an echocardiogram done just to make sure. Good luck, sorry i couldn't be too helpfull.
