Are horror movies bad for the heart/mental health?

Question:
This seems very silly but, if you experience lots of fright, anxiety, mental health problems and heart problems, can watching a horror movie at a theater, or at home , cause your problems to get worse or possibly lead you into an anxiety/panic attack and even heart attack?

Can a horror movie be a source of stress?

It's not like our bodies can tell real danger from fake danger, the same hormones I'm sure get released.

Answers:
It has immediate and long term effects.
It can be a cause of heart attack or cardiac arrest.
It is a major source of stress & can precipitate the above conditions. I have seen people running out of theater in acute panic and some even pee out.
Long term effects are in PREGNANT LADIES THE FETUS IS AFFECTED, AS THE FIRST SENSE TO DEVELOP IS THE HEARING. ABORTION CAN TOO TAKE PLACE.
Hope answered your question, as sound wave are heard by the fetus too. Fasciniting isn't it.
I think it depends on the person's overall mental state to begin with. Some people can watch horror movies with no mental/physical reactions, because they are either desensitize to them or they know its not real, its just a movie.
If you experience lots of fright, anxiety, panic attacks then watching horror movies, horror books, or even watching violence on T.V. can not be good. Because I am sure, when you are walking alone at night by your self, your hearth beat goes up and you look around. Here is what happens your adrenal gland releases adrenaline and this raises your hearth beat, you breath harder to gain more oxygen, and you get ready to fight or flight. So don't watch scary movies because you could develop real phobias.
