What does it feel like to be put under general anesthesia?

Fading away: you feel strange, and you just let go slipping away and gone. When I say let go, it is not like you have a choice at that point, you just go.
A going to sleep feeling.

I have been under myself. I had a C section when I had my first kid.They had me count backwards from 100. It's like falling asleep. As I was going under, I could kind of feel the doctors hands as they were preping me for the surgery. I didn't feel a thing after that.Like I said it's like falling asleep And I couldn't get past the number 96!!
Its kinda just like your falling asleep. When the doc used it on me, I was breathing, and then naturally fell asleep. Didn't really have any blackout feelings.
I was put out when I had my tonsils out, it was a pretty neat feeling. I just was talking to the nurse then all of a sudden, someone is telling me to wake up. You don't even know that you are going to sleep.
Hi, I just had surgery to remove my gallbladder 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I was under general anesthesia. It's not as scary as you might think. It happens so fast . Things may sound muffled for a second and then you're asleep, you don't realize it. This was my second sugery this year and one minute you awake and the next thing you know, you're waking up. They told me to think of something pleasent to dream about and I thought 3 words and I was out, you really don't realize it.

I have had both general anesthesia and locals, during many different surgeries and procedures. I agree with most of these other answers, it has nothing to do with blackin out. You just get really sleepy, and while you are counting backwards, you just drift off. you have no idea it's happening, and you feel absolutely nothing at all, the whole time. You dont even nkow you are gone, you just drift away.. and afterwards, you feel kinda groggy and sleepy. it takes a while to get your mind working again, but not long, and you are being monitered the entire time. so dont worry, ok? you will be fine!
no its not scar at all...youare talking bout mask anitsia right? its not bad at all ive had it done mulitple times...hahahah i just had it done matter of facr.it taste bad at fist but i was out in a mater about 7 seconds its not bad its like you back out but you do it so fast you cant think of being scared or anyhting sumetimes ive herd you see animals hahaha..it acully feels kind cool being on anstia and then when you are awake awake you funny sotries of stuf you said when you recover from it
