How long does this nasty POISON IVY rash last?? It's driving me insane!!?

Question:
I've had it for almost two weeks. One minute I'll think it's clearing up and then it will start getting really itchy again. I did get a shot and was on a steroid pack..should I go for another shot? This stuff is SO miserable. Any suggestions will be appreciated, now I'm gonna go scratch myself some more.

Answers:
I can't tell you what to because I, sadly, am in the same position. I got poison ivy on the 4th of July but it took a week to act up. So now I am sitting at the computer at 1:00 in the morning looking for a way to get better. I had a steriod pack that lasted 7 days and I am still applying cream 2x daily. If I were you, which I feel like I am, I would go to the dermatologist or just your regular doctor. You could go to your allergist too. I am just stuck trying not to attack my skin as it burns and itches all over the place. I'm on my 4th week yesterday.
Change your bed sheets on a nightly basis, showers are the preferred method of bathing, when you get to the area with the poison ivy wash it last and pat around it, do not wipe, it will just spread the oils. When drying off same deal, do not wipe, pat, and wash the towel. I happend to get a real bad case of poison ivy last month that pretty much covered everything from the waist down (minus my "man area"), it took almost a month to completely rid myself of it.
STOP scratching, use some Benedryl cream or Cortisone or Caladryl or some other anti-itch cream. The poison ivy stuff is in your blood stream, when you scratch you make a weak spot in your skin and out it will pop, another site! STOP SCRATCHING and it wil lgo away. Get another shot if you need it.
