The anesthetics work so fast these days, you fall asleep immediately and don't even realize doing so. When you wake up, it feels like no time has passed.
No it is not scary. It is a warm fuzzy feeling as you go under.
no it usually feels a lil cold when they do it through iv, but you just get sleepy and cant stop your eyes from closing, then soon as you know it... youre out.
They tell you to count backwards from 100 for a reason, hun...it's a distraction. You'll be fine, you won't even make it past 90, so don't be nervous...anesthesiologists know what they're doing. ;)
This is a great question. I know before I was put under for the first time, i was extremely nervous as well. To be honest, now that I have been put to sleep, it might sound weird, but it is so much fun!! lol. It's not scary at all, within a matter of seconds you will be out, you fade out, its not scary at all. It just makes you feel very tired, and you go to sleep. When you wake up, you feel like you've been asleep for a very long time, even if perhaps its been 30-1 hour. All i know is, you should definitely not be worried, i understand you being nervous, but i promise, it won't be bad at all...Hope I helped, and good luck!! :)
It is like floating away and last about 3 seconds. The actual anasthesia isn't at al scarry. What is scarry is all the thinking and worring about it.
Its normal to be scared what wil help the most is keeping your brain busy with things that are not scarry.
Good luck!
Don't worry. It's like rapidly fading out; you hardly have any time to realize what's happening. I have to admit that I rather liked it.
Actually you dont feel anything. You will get a mild sedative in your room before you get brought ito the operating room. In there, you stay in one corner until they are ready and they wheel you into one of the rooms. You recognize a few faces and they say hi to you. The doctor tells you. (Pretend your name is Hazel) "Hey Hazel how are you doing? You say, Ok, but Im kind of nervous" "Oh yeah? I will give you the anaesthetic now, sometimes it take 5 seconds to take effect and sometimes it take 7. Can you count for me? One thousand and one, one thousand and two" ...
Next thing you know, you are back in recovery room, and the nurses are saying, "oh hello sleepy head."
You will be laying there and they'll put some meds in your IV and you can be talking then you will start stumbling, then you are out--next thing you know you are waking up!!
If you are very nervous they will probably give you something to calm you down while you are waiting...
no it feels pretty good actually. all it does is bring you to another state of mind. it makes you pass out. don't worry about it just sit tight and let the doctor operate. what happens is it kind of slows down your concious thinking so don't worry about freaking out, losing control, anxiety and all that; it doubles as a sedative. you'll either love it or won't care for it much since it can make you a bit grogy when you wake up (and if you are put under anasthesia that means you are getting surgery and that will hurt when you wake up). i would be more worried about the pain when i wake up than blacking out
No its not scarry!
Its jsut like taking a nap
they usually make you count to 100 & i can never get past 3!! not scary very fast & theres no fading out , ur gone in a flash & wake up wondering what on earth just happened!! dont be nervous, theres nothing to fear good luck
