I just quite smoking, how long will I be hacking?

Question:
I quite smoking on wednesday, Aug 1st as part of a bet. I've been an addicted smoker for about two months smoking two packs a week. Now that my throat is repairing itself I'm coughing, beathing heavy and I have alot of mucus build-up, I've been told this is normal but how long will it last?

Answers:
Since you (fortunately) have only been smoking for 2 months, it shouldn't take that long for you to stop hacking stuff up, and you are correct, it's totally normal, your lungs are trying to repair themselves. But it might last a couple of months.
about a month
Varies from person to person and sometimes it never goes away!
it shouldn't last any longer than a month. If you only smoked for 2 months and 2 packs a week. There are people like my self that smoked a pack a day for year's. It took me about 4 to 6 months to get it all out of my lungs. Its been 11 years now since i quite. Good luck to you.
Till you lungs recover, since you are young not long. start running so that your lungs get the blood flow to repair the damage.
I have been smoking for 55 years and I do not have this problem. you are just unlucky.
