Why does it hurt when I hiccup?
Question:
Answers:
Because you're doing it wrong.
Perhaps you hiccup too much. I know this girl who has this hiccuping syndrobe where she hiccups every five seconds. Now she has this medicine and she's fine. Go to a doctor. People CAN die in the middle of hiccuping
i have the same problem, and i dont know how to stop it
Taking in too much air when you do hiccup...try keeping your mouth closed when you do..should hurt less...
I know exactly what you mean! It hurts when I hiccup too- and I hav the most embarassing hiccups. For some odd reason, I burp at the same time. The pain is like some pressure on my chest. prob bc air is trapt. stupid hiccups.
for me, it doesn't hurt at first, but a minute or two into it that changes. it starts to feel like my muscles (whichever ones are responsible for those annoying contractions) are really really sore, you know? I just deal with it by trying to make them go away as fast as possible: taking slow, shallow breaths, hold my breath, or drinking a lot of water. And try not to clench up when you know one's coming, that just makes it worse.
I'm not sure what you mean by hurt, but when I hiccup a lot it starts to make me feel nauseous. It is the worst feeling ever. I hate to hiccup.
Maybe it's indigestion. Try a Rolaids.
Hiccups are a result of your phrenic nerve being inadvertently stimulated, not like normal, and causing a quick and jerky contraction of your diaphragm muscle (which helps you breathe.) Your costal muscles (rib cage) and abdominal muscles may also be contracted.
This very quick, jerky contraction can, and in my case, does hurt.
