This was happening to me and I went to a cardiologist.
It turned out it was caffeine. At first I didn't believe him and then I stopped the caffeine and he was right.
Make sure you don't drink red bull or anything with mega caffeine in it either.
My problem was that I was drinking pitchers of ice tea.
It usually mens your looking at a hot guy..calm down a little
I am NOT a doctor, so I highly recommend you see one. This could be from a number of things. Actually, I have the same problem happen to me. My doctor said to me that it is a nervous system condition, and I take a beta-blocker now. Seriously, though go and talk to your doctor. You may not like to visit him/her, but you heart is NOT something you want to mess with. It may be serious, or it may be nothing. Either way I wish you the best of luck, and feel better soon! :)

The same thing happens to me.
when I am about to fall asleep ,my heart races,and I get sweatty palms and toes.
My doctor has not been able to diagnose what is causeing it.
