Hayfever sufferers! do u have to take time off work? if so...what does your employer think?

Question:
it sucks! and did u have it bad yesterday. I'm in the UK btw.

Answers:
Some people can get hayfever extremely bad so be quiet those who get it mildly! I used to get a swollen neck, my eyes would close up, tears streaming from eyes coughing uncontrollably, and constant sneezing and this ws with taking medication! So yes sometimes you do have to leave work. Ask your employter if you can wear sunglasses inside as this protects your eyes, but go to doctors and get proper med cos most chemist stuff is rubbish - also nasal spray helps a lot!
Nope never had a day off because of hayfever I have an injection at the beginning of the summer to sort the hayfever problem out you should try it
I have never taken time off work due to hayfever. Only a wuss would do that.

There are plenty of medications on the market to control it.

Taking time off work is just laughable.
It all depends on how severe it is. Some people does get it very bad and some can cope with it.

If yours is very bad, then I believe that there is no harm in taking days off and employers should understand the situation and be more cooperative as well.

If they are not go to your G.P and get a sick leave certificate from them. Then you would have proof and your employers would not be able to say anything.

Good Luck.
I have never taken a day off work for hay-fever even when its so bad my whole body aches and I have difficulty breathing and can barely keep my eyes open.No yesterday mine was OK but it rained here all day.
I have not had time off work but I do sympathise with you as I suffer too. I have been taking antihistamines all year for the last 3yrs or so and they have worked fine till this summer. The last few days I have been really bad so am using a nasal spray too as have been waking up with what is like a heavy cold caused by hayfever. However this morning I feel much better.

The spray is flixonase which is fine for me to take with zirtek. However check with your pharmacist if you are on other medications to see if you can use.

I would definitely take something rather than take time off work.
My daughter suffers badly from it, she gets a prescription from the doctors, or the chemists have some medication for you, I dont think you r work would be too happy if you were off with hay fever as there is lots of medication out there.
Poor you, i know its awful get some medication and you will feel better
Hay fever is curable! Take local honey every day. It has all the air born irritants that are bothering you. As you take a teaspoon every day, your body will build up immunities to everything in the air around you. As with other herbal remedies, it will take some time to help your body develop its defenses but, it is natural, has no side effects, can be procured without a prescription and IT WORKS! You won't ever have to take time off for that problem again, in fact, you will be enjoying the flowers and the grass in your town from then on.
