Question about possible food allergies?

Question:
we have had ongoing health issues with my 14 month old and he has been seen by a dr. regularly regarding this. he has not gained weight since he was 10 months old, among with many other problems. they finally diagnosed him with hypoglycemia. now though he seems to be having diarrhea every single day. it is very mucusy and smells awful. he seems to be acting like he feels ok, but has been slapping his belly. also, his belly seems extremely swollen even though he eats. sometimes after he eats, he gets a very sour milk rotten smell to him. i noticed that it seems worse after dairy. could this be an intolerance to dairy? when i looked online, it seemed like he is too young for that diagnosis. anyone have any ideas? we took him off dairy, but its only been 48 hours. and now he seems extremely gassy.

he is going in this week to be evaluated. so please dont suggest i take him to the dr.

i am just looking for some feedback.

ps- he is not in daycare, and i dont believe he has a virus

Answers:
There is a good book about food allergies and children. It is called "Is This Your Child?" by Doris Rapp

My son was allergic to milk, eggs, corn, chocolate, milk, and wheat.

There is a lot of good info in the book. It has been a long time since I read it. I do remember that if the tops of their ears get red after they eat that is a sign of an allergy. THere was a lot more good information. It has just been a while since I read it.
ask your Dr. to book an appointment with a child specialist =it sounds like he is a very sick young man=good luck and hope he is better soon
I WOULD SUGGEST YOU TAKE OUT DAIRY COMPLETELY. Start giving him soy milk. He may have a slight allergy to milk. My doctor could not really understand what was wrong with my son. I had to be his doctor. I took him off of dairy and started him on soy milk. He started getting better all of a sudden. His problem was belly hurting, diareah, skin thickness, eczema. Trust me, you don't have to wait to see the doctor-just see how this works even for just a day. You should see a difference. YOu might even give him about 1/2 teaspoon of Benadryl to knock out the histamines if he is allergic. My son is almost two-we've had to take him to the emergency countless times, because sometimes we unknowingly give him something that has small dairy amounts. I've learned to read labels more. I hope he grows out of it. Please try this. I hope it helps.
