Causes for being underweight?

Question:
I'm roughly 90-95lbs, and 5'5". My momma, brother, and sister are also underweight like me. But younger and shorter sister weighs more than me, at about 100-110lbs, and my brother the same weight except taller (5'6"), and my momma around the same. I weight the least.

I was wondering what would cause all of us being underweight. I've heard it could be hyperthyroidism, and their is thyroid problems in the family, but when my momma was younger she got tested for hyperthyroidism and it came up negative, but now it shows up negative and positive and negative and positive and so forth.

I also heard allergies to wheat or dairy could also cause one to be underweight, or even caeliacs disease. But I've recently (a week ago) put myself on a diet of no gluten/wheat or dairy, and nothing is happening except my intestines don't seem to like this diet, not that my intestines hurt, but my bowels..not good lol

Answers:
You list good possibilities. I would recommend that you be tested for thyroid antibodies-if you have not already had this done.
That said, some people tend to naturally have a more amped up metabolism and remain trim.
I think you need to consider how you feel. If you feel fine and your immune system is in good health-I wouldn't worry much about it.
were you picky (for food) as a child and are you even picky now. that could be a reason. thyroid problems could result in underweightness but maybe if you're so worried about it you should talk to a professional
