Signs and Symptoms of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) include fatigue, difficulty sleeping and insomnia, anorexia, progressive deterioration of memory, behaviour disturbances, spasms of the body. Depression and psychosis is seen in 10% of cases with delusions and hallucinations.
Variant CJD (vCJD) signs and symptoms are similar to CJD with early changes in personality, excessive sleepiness. In later stages poor balance, pain, increasing problems with balance and walking.
Dementia becomes obvious and leads to a mute, rigid state. Once the signs of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease become apparent its progress is very rapid.
Put simply, this follows a similar pattern to any other kind of one of the true dementias. None of them, initially, would give a clear indication that you are suffering from any kind of dementia. You'd really have to have a psychiatric evaluation done ... preferably by a psychiatrist that has experience of various types of dementia.

Well, if you are, CJD is not contagious that way. Even if it were, it would take a very long time for the symptoms and signs to appear, and then the first sign is dementia. How's your thinking? It sounds fine.
CJD can only be contracted through nervous system tissue, and almost always only shows up late in life, due to the (slow) action of the responsible prion.
The first symptom is dementia, and thus it is most commonly diagnosed in politicians. Others may suffer from it unwittingly, and it may go undetected for some years because in its early stages it appears most like a type A personality, thus causing the well-known "Corporate CEO" personality. Such people tend to be heard long before they are seen. You have probably known some without knowing that you did. You only knew that they needed cursing. It's a sure sign.
In CJD the dementia is of a form that progresses rapidly, explaining the rapidity of appearance and disappearance of radio personalities (if they are personalities. They could be gravitational anomalies distorting Larry King into a poor semblance of humanity, projecting him into studios and fooling many of us)
