Can you breathe through both nostrils at the same time?

Question:
I always thought that you could only breathe through the one side at a time (can't remember where i read it) but i have just blocked my one nostril and found i couldnt breathe through the other one. Can you all give it a go and let me know?
Thank you.

Answers:
You CAN breathe through both nostrils. One just breathes easier than the other one, and it alternates about every three hours. Try seeing which nostril you can and can't breathe through every 3 hours, and it should change.
