How do you get listed on a Kidney Transplant list?

Question:

Answers:
Your urologist or nephrologist should put you on the list.
Easiest way to start is to see a nephrologist. If you do not have a nephrologist, then you probably do not need a kidney transplant either!
Talk with the doctor who manages your dialysis. He can tell you if you qualify for a transplant, and discuss the listing process.

Because the people needing organs greatly outnumber donors, the quickest way to get a kidney transplant is to find a living donor.

Anyone can be a living donor. Close family members are more likely to match. The donor must be in good physical health and have the same blood type as you. There will be a series of other tests to determine compatibility.
