Answers:
u dont need alcohol and there are no side affects.. just simply take it because they make them very small now and u wont even notice
they arent big like they used to be
By the way you are saying that you are freaking out I am going to guess that you are not one to like shots. I don't think that drinking a lot of alcohol the night before would hurt anything but I wouldn't because I don't like drinking alcohol. I would say the best thing for you to do is just go to the appointment and close your eyes the whole time. I wouldn't drink alcohol if they were taking blood from me because the alcohol would be in the blood and it may change something. The drinking alcohol part, I think it depends on the kind of shot if it will have sideeffects.
well i'm not 100% shure if it's bad but from using rescources like how you're not supposed to take pills w/any alcohal, i'd think that it's not smart to drink the night before you get shots. and trust me i am terrrified from not only shot but any kind of needles. i had to get my shots a few weeks ago and if you try and stay calm, it will go by alot faster and hurt less. because i realize that it's more scary thinking about it than actually having it. so don't stress about it.
the alchohol should be out of your system by tomorrow morning but i would mention it to the doctor before he gives you the shot.
as for being terrified of shots, tell the doctor this too as they deal with ppl just like you all the time and they know how scary it can be.just take a deep breath and pick out a spot on the wall and focus on it and ask questions while they are giving you the shots...like what the side effects are, what kind of soreness can you expect etc. that will keep your mind focused on something other than the pinch that comes with a shot. i do know that a tetnus shot will make your arm sore for a few days afterwards so ask your doc what you can take for the soreness. the most important thing to do is relax, you probably get more pain from a bee sting that you would from a shot and the shots are for your good health.
First, drinking alcohol wont affect your experience tomorrow, you just might be a little more nervous and/or twitchy. Your HPV and Hep B vaccines are more than one shot, it is a series of three shots each, so make sure you are getting the right stuff. I cant tell you that this will not hurt, it really depends on your pain threshold but I can tell you that all three of these are given IM, intramuscular shots, so they will be given in your upper arm/shoulder, or your hips. My advice to you is to get this done in the location with the most fat, most likely the hips! Hope this helps.
The shots do not feel good. Both of them are intramuscular typically to the deltoid. Which means they will penetrate the shoulder muscle tissue. These shots though can save your life if you have any type of job that has an exposure risk to body fluids, or sharp metals. So...suck it up, and take care of business.
Some tips for the shots.
1) Distract yourself. Bring a book, music or whatever. Tell them whether you are left or right handed. Typically you don't want the tetnis in your good arm. Then roll-up both your sleeves exposing your shoulders, and zone out.
2) Make sure your arms are not tensed. Let your arms dangle, almost lifeless. It will be alot better for you if your deltoid muscles are completely relaxed.
