I've read that a raw food diet can help alot. Try eliminating any foods that are known to cause food allergies, (milk, dairy, etc.) Try a search for the disease and what you can do to alleviate the symptoms.
hi ad, I have Crohns a form of IBD like UC. Diet will vary in each person. Some foods will cause discomfort or just go through a person w/o being absorbed into the body.
The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) has a site you can go to. There you will find alot of information on diet, exercise, medications, surgery, and even locate a support chapter where you live. They provide educational meetings that have dieticians as speakers as well as doctors, insurance reps, etc. The support meetings are for pts. and their family members who can ask questions in an intimate enviroment & share stories w/others who have the same illness.
Also, CCFA has a live web chat as well as a toll free number manned by healthcare professionals M-F 9 am - 5pm where you can ask questions re: diet. the information is on their site. The American Dietician Association has a site (see link below) where you can locate a dietician in your town if you prefer to meet one in a non medical setting. They work with others like us who have Crohns/UC and are very familiar with our diets.
hope this helps.
