What could a raised testosterone level in a female indicate?


Question:
My Doctor wants me to undergo a previously scheduled sleep study before we discuss an abnormal test result that indicated raised testosterone levels, I would like to have an ideal about what direction this doctor is thinking we should go.

Symptoms of PCOS:

too much of one hormone would mean too little of another. It may have to do with sleep because cortisol and DHEA are produced at night, and testosterone relates to those 2 hormones
well...it means there is an endocrine problem...
from the pituitary,thyroid,or ovary...these all need to be checked to see where the problem started..good luck..
