I had swollen feet once. (just alittle itchy, not bad though) Finally went to the doc's. He said that since the swelling goes down at night when I sleep and are off them, I have nothing to worry about. However, he told me to come immediately if the swelling did not go down at night. He never said why, just assume it's not good since he said to get in immediately. So that's all I know. Hope this little bit helps.
might be from the heat, or maybe your on your feet too much.
soak them in cold water
I've been a nurse for 27 years.20 years of that in critical care. I'd strongly suggest you make an appointment with your family doc. You didn't say how long the condition has persisted but there are many causes including cardiac related ones. In the meantime cut your sodium intake way down.sodium causes fluid retention. Elevate your feet and legs higher than heart level and eliminate caffeine intake.
Swollen feet could be from numerous causes, have you had any heart issues? Have you been consuming more sodium than usual? Prepacked foods, frozen, canned, boxed, bagged foods contain tons of sodium- I would watch your sodium intake and also keep your feet elevated when resting.
My mother is 72, and has swelling as well, water retaining which she takes a water pill but also, she consumes hidden sodium but she is too bullheaded to listen and take better care of herself, in addition she takes mirapex which causes leg swelling as well.
Medication, sodium, 2 key plays- but I would get a physical just to be sure. Press your thumb into your leg and release, if it is white, it is water retension. Reduce sodium, if this does not help within 2 days, I would call your physican and make an appt.
Be well - hugs to you
