Why Does My Heart Beat Fast When I Don't Sleep?

Question:
I have been staying up to 4am and I have noticed that my heart rate has increased. What can I do about it? How dangerous is staying up too late?

Answers:
Well, there's several potential culprits for this problem.

First and foremost is your body isn't able to rest, and regenerate as it normally does when you get a recommended 8 hours sleep.

The other, and also extremely likely is that your diet includes things that keep you up this late, or assist you in staying awake. Any stimulant of any form will cause tachycardia (increased heart rate).

I suggest you start getting the sleep you need, and avoid stimulants any more than is necessary.
lack of sleep wears the body out. you can't think straight and your more likely to have an accident. so don't drive or ride your bike.
it really depends how fast your heart rate is because if it isn't more than 100 beats per minute, than you should be fine. During the night time, it is easier to hear your own heartbeat. If you pay attention to it, it would sound even louder and would beat faster because you would be alert. Staying up late is not dangerous unless you do it for a long time because your body needs rest. However, if you stay up late but sleep late as well, you should be fine.
lack of sleep actually overworks the body if your heart is tired because your not sleeping and it can't rest then it may be trying to overcompensate for being tired so it is beating too fast i wojuld try to get more sleep if that doesn't work you should see a doctor
