I dont know why and how it started . I can be siting, standing.workingand ling in bed or just simply talking and BAM it hits out of nowhere i have to stop everything put my hand to my mouth. I dont have a sinus problem or allergies, i'm never sicke to my stomachor get cold sweat's I have absalutly no warning i'm gettin woried. I work with the poublic and it's also embaresing,most think i'm going to get sicke and throw up on them,inever do i just gag but you never know when it might hapen. Can anybody help me?

An exaggerated or hyperactive gag reflex could be the result of a normal physiological process, a disease condition, a phsycological cause, alcoholism, or a combination of any of these.

How about acid reflux, any heartburn? There may be other conditions of the esophagus that would cause this. Also, some medications can heighten the drug reflex. Are you taking any medications?
I guess the doctor is your best bet.
One more thing, does it have anything at all to do with if your're hungry, if you've just eaten, or about to eat?
