Can smoking lower your oxygen?
Question:
Also, what are good ways to bring oxygen up without using a machine/inhaler?
Answers:
Indeed smoking depletes blood oxygen,. It does so by nicotine attaching itself to red blood cells, replacing oxygen, on its ride to nicotine receptors in the brain. With an oxygen saturation of 82%, I am afraid you mom is definitely facing using inhalers and IPPB machines, possibly even oxygen. The most positive thing she can do is stop smoking NOW and ask her doctor for literature on COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). There are breathing exercises she can do that will help. Her doctor will have phamplets describing these exercises.
i don't know how to speak English? do you wanna be my friend?
No doubt about it.
yes smoking has many fatal effects and lowering oxygen is one of them. A good way to bring oxygen up would be to limit the smoking, the best way? to stop it altogether
yes it really does
yes it does, i can really remeber the details of how it does.
yeah smoking decreases oxygen. Destroys lung capacity. Stop smoking and it will get better.
Smoking will reduce anything with the word oxygen involved. Anything.
It constricts your blood vessels. So less blood flows through the body and therefore less oxygen. Also the tar in the lungs inhibit oxygen from passing into the blood stream.
Honestly not much you can do other than lower/stop smoking.
It may do it later on in life when all of your systems start to shut down, but it is not noticeable in most people.
The people that respond definitely that it will don't know anything about blood oxygen levels.
Smoking damages your lungs, therefore limiting the amount of oxygen that can be absorbed into the blood stream. A good way to help raise your O2 levels would be to stop smoking.
not only will it lower it,but it will eventually stop it,
thats when it kills you.
yes and she is probably going to die soon because she has smoked for so long that she probably has lung cancer and i feel sorry for her and i really mean because my mom smokes alot
An oxygen reading of 82 is really low but normal if she is a 30 year smoker at a pack or two a day. Yes cigarettes bring your oxygen level down b/c over years your alveolar which exchange the co2 and 0xygen in your lungs become so expanded by smoking they just quit working. Normal oxygen readings are like 98 to 100
Yes it does that why so many people have promblems with their respiratory tract during the time they smoke.
Yes, smoking cigarettes lowers your blood oxygen. It prevents the lungs from absorbing oxygen as well as the lungs of non-smokers.
The only way to improve her blood oxygen level is for her to cut down/stop smoking. In a matter of years her lungs will improve almost to the point of a non-smoker's lungs.
quit smoking , work out , if some people quit why cant the others
The carbon monoxide that is in the tobacco depletes the oxygen in your blood cells. This is why so many smokers tier easy and often run out of energy and breath after a cardio workout.
Not only does it lower the oxygen on your blood stream it also damages the lungs to the point they no longer can take in the oxygen your body needs to live...
What they are referring to is the oxygen levels in her blood. Smoking does decrease the levels. Oxygen machines and inhalers would do nothing..she should quit smoking or at least cut way back
It does lower your blood oxygen level. I used to play squash and found (as a smoker) that it was good for my game to not smoke at least 45 mins before I played.
Yes, smoking is bad for your blood oxygen. It damages the red blood cell and allows it to hold less oxygen which means blood has to be pumped faster so sufficient amounts of oxygen are supplied to vital organs. And what's even worse, there's no way to reverse the damage of blood cells. So i say, tell your mum to stop smoking now if she wants to be healthy.
I know for sure and every else should already know that is bad and does alot of bad stuff to your health and body. For your mom smoking it does lower her oxygen and she should probably find a way to stop smoking.
Yes it does. Tell your mother to quite smoking. I actually did a question including twelve reasons why people should stop smoking.
