What is the best type of air purifier?

Question:
Since I am allergic to dust and mold, I would like an air purifier in my small bedroom. What would you recommend?

Answers:
Firstly, the type of filtration method is key. You want a HEPA filter - not HEPA-like, electrostatic, etc. Secondly, because it is being used in the bedroom, you want one that is quiet on the low setting. (Test it in the store, especially if you can not return it.) Many brands that state they are quiet are not.

Personally, I have been using air cleaners for over 20 years. I have found Bionaire to make an excellent product. (They also make the Holmes brand.)

A carbon filter in addition to the regular filter is effective at removing odors. These need to be changed more frequently than the main filter.
