Why is my nasal mucus bitter?

Question:
It smells and tastes bitter, and is mostly slightly yellow and thick. I have to keep washing my nose out with saline to get it out. I've had this problem for 3 years or so and it's driving me insane.

Answers:
clear to white is normal. yellow is a new infection. green is a long standing infection. you may have sinusitis. have a doctor give you an antibiotic like bactrum ds or sipro.
you need to see a ENT MD to figure out if anything is wrong or not
I'm not going to taste your buggers to see if they are bitter tasting, I'll take your word on that
