Will the derm. prescribe me accutane?

okay. so i abs. hate my skin. i have had acne since i was 11 and i just turned 18. its pretty much all over my forehead and chin and the sides of my face and a little around my nose. really red. some whiteheads. just red bump type things. i have never been to a dermatologist, i dont know why. my acne has never botehred me this much i guess. but now its all i think about, all day long, everyday. its def. affecting me and my relationships with other people alot. i rarely want to leave the house. crying is not uncommon. ive tried all the otc stuff and proactiv. none help at all. do you think a derm. would prescribe some accutane for me? im not particularly interested in trying any creams or anything else they may prescribe. ive suffered enough, gimme the stuff that will work yano. i know all the side effects, i've done my reading. anything is worth it for clear skin. thanks (:

a dermatologist will not prescribe you accutane untill after she prescribes you every other medication and it doesnt work. You really should of went to the dermatologist when you first started having a skin problem, 9 years ago. Then you could of tried all the other medications they are going to prescribe to you first and been through all of that already. It is very fair that they will prescribe you for accutane, untill you have tried every thing else and it doesnt work. Accutane comes with alot of responsiblity and directions. They try not to put many people on it. especially females, because if you get pregnant while on accutane or even a month after you stop using accutane, you will be basically forced to end the pregnancy because accutane causes serve problems for babies. Also, a dermatologist will not prescribe accutane during the summer months. They like to start around Oct. because accutane drys your skin soo badly, that the summer heat makes it worst.

You need to see a Dermatologist. There are many options now a days, other than acutane. that can help you. There is no quick solution to this problem. You absolutely have to see a doctor, if it is causing you to be depressed. There are many anti-biotics that you can take orally that will help. Your still young and you have plenty of time.

Absolutely, yes! I used to have Acne too. Probably from age 11 to 14. I tried every acne treatment... nothing would help. Prescription topical treatments and ProActive would just irritate my skin more, but Accutane works! The dermatologist will prescribe it if you tell them everything you have tried and that it all fails. It's a very serious and strong medicine, but it's worth it. Go ahead and set up an appointment. You need to take care of it as soon as possible. They told me I would never have acne again... which wasn't exactly true for me. I break out a little when I'm stressed, but it's not nearly as bad as it was. I think Accutane's better than anything out there. Good luck! :)
