How damaging is chewing tabacco to the cardiovascular system?

Question:
My husband has been chewing tabacco since 2004 and has recently gotten back into cycling. He says that it is much harder than before, and is wondering how much the tabacco has effected his endurance.

Answers:
hmm... well nicotine is a vascular restrictor - meaning that it restricts the vessels that deliver blood to the heart. The effects can last 45 minutes to an hour after he removes the tobacco also. I know it has other effects, long term, but the reason he is probably having a tough time now is because of circulation. Tell him to just quit.
Any form of tobacco is harmful to the cardiovascular system!
well he's releasing chemicals into his body so that isn't good plus he should be very worried about getting mouth cancer
gotta b the most pointless thing a man could do
buying tabacco costs around $100,000 a year. it's bad for you.
I suggest your husband to stop immediate, or it will growth hair on his tongue, and he will have mouth cancer, and growth hair in his mouth, and I'm sure you will be never get to kiss him ever again!
I'd worry more about mouth or throat cancer. people have lost half their faces because of chewing tobacco. he's probably just out of shape and not used to cycling. he can't expect to pick up where he left off if he hasn't ridden in a while.
in 1 year, tobacco does the same thing to you as smoking it, does in 5-6 years. It is a lot worse than smoking. I don't find it surprising the his health has been affected. If he takes immature steps, he will pay for it.
