Anyone else here a Type 1.5 diabetic?

Question:
I don't fall into the Type 1 or 2 categories and after discussing it with my doctor, I have (after being called Type 2 for many years) re-classified at Type 1.5.

For those unsure of what Type 1.5 is, you can read more here: http://www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz/ato...

Answers:
Yup that's me!

I was originally diagnosed as a type 2 but the pills & diet changes didn't do anything for me, my blood sugar was steadily getting worse over time no matter what I did.

It was a year later that I finally saw an endo and he did the antibody tests & diagnosed me as a type 1.5. Officially I'm a type 1 - I think every 1.5 is a type 1 on paper as 1.5 appears to be more of a 'slang' term of sorts!

There are lots of us around. A lot of people diagnosed as type 2 don't even know that they're truly 1.5s, because unfortunately a lot of doctors aren't aware of it and don't look for it.

It's no fun, eh?! But somehow I found the type 1 diagnosis a lot easier to take than T2. I guess it just made more sense to me, and was a relief to know it wasn't my fault that the pills weren't working! Until then docs etc had made it out to be my problem - they assumed I wasn't trying :(

I am not a diabetic at all. Thanks for the inquiry.
