Recurring itchy bump on my ankle--what is it?
Question:
When it began 3 years ago, it was much larger and I thought it was ringworm. Two of my pets had ringworm-type infections at the same time. I used their medication on myself. The pets were quickly cured, but while my ringworm-looking lesion went away, it now recurs about once every few weeks, randomly, as this small bump. With only one exception that I recall, it occurs in the morning. I put Tinactin on it and it goes away in about an hour. I have not experimented to see if it goes away without the Tinactin. It itches so much I feel I must do something.
When the bump is inactive, you cannot even tell where it was. Therefore it would be impossible to show it to a doctor, unless I could get there within an hour.
I am a healthy adult female.
Thanks for any ideas.
Answers:
You might have a bone spur that is aggravated by your footwear.
Just tell your doctor and describe to him of the situation. Maybe next time it happens, you can take a picture of the area and head down to the doctor's office with it.
