I am recovering from bronchitis...?

Question:
I finished my antibiotics, quit smoking and took care of myself. This has gone on for about over a month and my lungs still feel weird like there is something in them and if I do strenuous activities I still get shortness of breath. Is this normal??

Answers:
It will take a while, I get bronchitis a lot and it usually takes a couple weeks to a month to completely clear up. HOWEVER if it gets worse and not better go back in to the DR. It could have turned into pneumonia!

It could also be yours longs healing from quiting smoking!

P.S.

GOOD FOR YOU FOR QUITTING SMOKING!! please do it for good!
I had pneumonia last year and it took me over a month to even start feeling better and I don't even smoke.
I got bronchitis this pat February and i still had the cough 5 weeks later even after finishing my meds..
again the first week of July I get the stupid thing yet again, I didn't go to dr. this time I took mucinex and i still have a little cough now..
Just takes time to get out out of yoursysytem and I think the Summer makes it worse with the heavier air and all
I had bronchitis that went on for months the only relief from the shortness of breath was an inhaler and the Advair diskus, I also had to take Tussionex every 8 hours to breath and stop the coughing and regurgitating. Have you had a PFT done yet to see if your Asthmatic?
It takes a while to completely get over bronchitis. Maybe you should go back to the doctor since it has been over a month. It could have developed into pneumonia. Or you could call them and have the doctor call you back and ask him about it.
Your lungs go through a lot of changes from quiting smoking. Part of that is increased caughing for awhile as your lungs have to caugh up all the crap the smoking kept pushed down. And the bronchitis is another assault to the lungs.
It takes awhile for your lungs to recover. It is normal for you to still feel short of breath and still caughing up the junk that you need to get out. It can take a couple of months. If you start running even a little bit of a fever - call your dr. imedicatey. A fever would indicate an infection again. Other that that - it will just take time. Be extra nice to yourself while you heal. Good for you for quitting smoking!! You've done a really good thing for yourself!
You quit smoking and you will experience all kinds of weird things for a while. Your lungs are trying to manage the mucus and try to get rid of that crap. You might also get a bad cough, because the the fine hair in your bronchial sacs are growing back. Hang in there, you will be fine.
