Yes you can, and it is a good idea if you have recurrent dental infections. DM causes bacterial infections to be difficult to control. I'm glad to see you taking care of your mouth. That will help your heart in the long run too. You might consider talking to your doctor about a prophylactic antibiotic before any dental work.
I'm not sure why you would want too, but yes. Let your dentist know your history.
