Why is it bad for diabetics to drink alcohol.?

For one alcohol can cause heart disease, in which diabetics are already in high risk for. Alcohol can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which is very harmful for a diabetic. Alcohol also can effect your kidneys with is also a serious complication for diabetics.
Its full of carbs, which then turns into sugar in your body.
Because your body converts alcohol into sugars.
And as you know sugar is not good for diabtetics.

Even though alcohol has carbs and sugar it has adverse effects and reduces the bsl. A TYPE 1 Diabetec who is drunk could go into a Diabetec Coma and you may not realise this as they appear drunk.

It depends on the type of alcohol, but if it is low or no carb alcohol then they can partake as long as it isnt mixed with a sugary pop, use diet soda, etc!
No no no!! Alcohol can lead to very low blood sugar. When the liver experiences alcohol it will stop producing glucose until it has dealt with the alcohol. This can be very dangerous for diabetics!!!

For me, alcohol makes my sugar bottom out. I have to eat while I drink or I have to drink alcohol with sugar in, like fruity drinks or mojitos.
