If a nine month old has a food allergy how long would it take before a rash would develop?

Question:
I'm babysitting my nephew during the week and on the weekends he goes home. This weekend while with his mom a rash broke out all over him. they took him to the dr. but got no answers. Is it possible to have a rash from something he at ate my house two days before?

Answers:
No. I have severe allergies and work in the health profession. Trust me, a allergy will show almost instantly. At the very least within 1/2 hour. So stop blamming yourself
Actually it has been documented by many allergists that food allergies can show up as late as 24 hrs. if the allergy isn't anaphalaxis. Also, it has been documented, though extremely rare, that some allergies can take even up to 3 to 4 days to show up. There are several food allergy sites you can look at. Also, call an allergist, the baby obviously needs one if he has allergies. My daughter is anaphalaxis to some foods, has eczema and sees an excellent allergist.
