Sick Dog! Help!?
Question:
Answers:
measure out her water in ounces. a dog should drink about a ounce of water per pound of body weight per day. if she is drinking a lot more than this then yes, she may have a problem. increased water consumption is what leads to the accidents. they drink more so they pee more.
i would suggest you keep her in a tiled room with papers down at night and such. also if you determine her water consumption is way too much, i would also re call the vet and see if they wouldnt see her then. it could be something like diabetes or a indication of a serious problem.GL with it!
You could try changing her food - or cooking for her with a little less protein (which is a stress on the kidneys) 2 Tbl. parsley, 1 chopped garlic clove - 1 cup or brown rice or barley or other whole grain - 3 oz. of high quality meat - any other vegetables you can think of. See if it helps.
What caused her accidents? could have just been lazy. Does she let you know when she has to go or do you still regulate the time? I had a dog that would breath heavy while standing next to me, no barking at the door, and it was easy to miss the request if there was a lot happening in the house. Did she void in her sleep? that would be a sign she couldn't control it and is a different fix altogether.
