Asthma help?
Question:

There is no cure for asthma and one does not out grow it. You can become symptom free however the underlying cause is always there.
The best non medication treatment for asthma is learning your asthma triggers and avoiding them. If you are unable to identify the triggers or if you can't avoid them, you will need preventative medications.
You will need an asthma action plan to log your medications and when to use them. Track your signs and symptoms as well as your peak flow readings.
No one should be limited in their daily activities because of asthma. It can be managed.
I had asthma when I was little but I grew out of it. Theres no actual way to stop it other than that.
As of right now there are no cures for asthma, only preventative and maintenance medications. There are many medications out there which help to control asthma such as Advair, Singulair which are taken daily. There are also fast-acting inhalers such as Proventil or Albuterol which are taken before exercise or when you are feeling short of breath.
The most important thing is to see a doctor and ask if they can perform Lung Function Tests to determine if you actually have asthma. Most of the time doctors over-prescribe asthma medications because they do not properly test for it.
Hope this helps!
I was diagnosed with Asthma when i was 12.I'm now 28 and i still have bad asthma. You can grow out of it if you have it when your young, but if you have it when your older, it can be controlled but not cured. I am on Singulair, advair, combivent, and a nebulizer. But I also am currently living where the air is dry and horrible, doesn't help much. Good luck!
I grew out of it... I guess its luck..
1- Time. Many kids with asthma grow out of it. But others develop it in adulthood.
2- Exercise. The better shape you are in, the more efficiently your body works and the less you gasp for air.
3- No smoking.
4- Eliminate your triggers for attacks. Dust, pollen, pets, mold, smoke, exercise w/o warming up, etc.
5- Steroid therapy. Either oral or inhaled steroids can reduce inflammation in your lungs.
6- Bronchiodialators. Inhaled or oral meds to relax your lungs.
contrary to popular belief, Asthma IS REVERSIBLE. You can gradually "grew out" of it. But for now, you need to follow the doctor's order and the typical asthma management.
