Urticaria?? any advise?

Question:

My dad has had this thing, where if he puts one foot in cold water his hole body comes out in this red rash. i remember him talkin about this when i was younger. he just put it down to somethin that happens to him. he went to the doctor about 10 years ago and they told him its just a rash an there is nothin that could be done.

but now i see on the net, that there are alot of different types and symptoms. i think this is because it has developed throughout the years!

he has the chronic cold Urticaria, where if he goes in the cold air, or water he comes out in a big rash.
and the Aquagenic Urticaria,all to do with water, which is rare.

i was just wondering if there is anyone who now knows of someone, or them selves that have this, and if so what kind of treatment you can get for it.

my dad cant stay in the cold weather for 5 minutes with out going red all over his body?!!
any advise at all??

Urticaria is an allergic reaction. Often, creams are prescribed, but you can develop an allergic reaction to them as well. Benadryl (pink) can be taken prophylactically to help prevent the outbreaks.

As a young girl,I remember going ice skating on the pondOkay for about 30 min.Then started perspiring,rudy complexion,and itch.The itch was under my heavy clothing.Then home,a tepid bath and relaxation would take it away.It finally stopped as abruptly as it started.If this is affecting his quality of life,he can speak to his Dr. for advice and any treatments.I do find tepid baths with aloe vera and oatmeal relieved the symptomsIt actually looks worse than what it is.Also,your dad has the issue.You should discuss this with him before going futher.He may not want his personal history in print.
